Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has
announced the launch of its latest lineup of articulated haulers, marking the
company's biggest and boldest product launch to date. The new range, which
includes the all-new A50 model, is designed to meet the modern-day demands for
connected solutions, enhanced productivity, and reduced emissions, with a
strong focus on operator-centric design.
The updated range represents a complete
overhaul of Volvo CE's existing articulated hauler lineup, now spanning from
the A25 to the A60. The introduction of the A50 model is a particularly notable
addition, expanding customer opportunities in the demanding hauler segment.
Key innovations across the new range
include a new electronic system, an upgraded cab for superior operator comfort
and safety, and an in-house developed transmission designed to adapt to future
drivetrains. These advancements are expected to deliver fuel efficiency
improvements of up to 15 percent, depending on the model and industrial
application.
Volvo CE, the pioneer behind the world's
first articulated hauler, "Gravel Charlie," in 1966, has announced
that the new lineup will be introduced stepwise in markets globally during
2025. The company has renewed over 35 percent of its total range in the last 12
months, marking the latest step in its largest product portfolio renewal in
decades.
The new A50 model is a highlight of this
launch, underscoring Volvo CE's commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its
customers. The addition of the A50, available in selected markets, enhances
operational capabilities and offers customers more choices. These cutting-edge,
safe, and productive machines are purpose-built to lower the total cost of
ownership and respond to the challenges of today and tomorrow across the
toughest work sites.
Melker Jernberg, President of Volvo CE,
commented, "For nearly 60 years, we have been leading the way with our
range of articulated haulers. Now, with today's launch of a new range of
outstanding products, including one completely new model, we prove that there
are no limits to our capacity for innovation. Our customers know to expect a
first-class operation when they get into one of our haulers, but that
experience has just got even better with a host of cutting-edge features
designed with our customers in mind."
Sustainability is also a key focus for
Volvo CE in the development of the new range. The company has introduced low
carbon emission steel, made from recycled materials and produced using
fossil-free electricity and biogas, in the serial production of haulers
manufactured at the Braås site. This commitment to material circularity is
another example of Volvo CE's efforts to achieve net zero greenhouse gas
emissions by 2040.
The launch of the new range is a pivotal
step in Volvo CE's ongoing commitment to innovation and leadership in the
construction equipment industry. Like in 1966, the new generation of haulers
sets the industry benchmark for innovation and best-in-class operation,
reaffirming Volvo CE's position as a leader in the articulated hauler market.
